ATTAIN YOUR LEVEL B – FULL TIME PROGRAM

PROGRAM SPECIFICS

Presentations

Throughout the program, participants prepare and deliver presentations, for which they eventually facilitate a discussion. As their skills develop, the challenges of the presentations increase. Since many of the topics for their presentations are related to their professional environment, they are also building their second language skills in areas that will benefit them back in their professional situations. Toward the end of the program, these presentations are geared to overcoming problematic areas most people encounter when passing the Second Language Evaluation.

Themes

The thematic approach gives participants the ability to learn the language within the context of a topic. Each new theme is explored using video, audio, text, group discussions, presentations, and reports. A wide variety of media keeps the participants motivated and involved in their training as they increase their skills at reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Structured Self-Directed Learning

A period of time each day is dedicated to participants’ individual work to ensure that they are not so overloaded with information that they do not have the time to process each day’s learning. This is also the time for them to supplement their training with individual one-on-one work with their instructor.

Preparation for the Second Language Examinations

Participants work on exercises to prepare for all three Second Language Evaluations.

For the Test of Written Comprehension and Expression, they do a series of practice tests to familiarize themselves with the format and demands of the tests.

All of the program’s activities are geared to developing the necessary skills to manage the Oral Proficiency Test. The group activities are supplemented with one-on-one coaching, interview simulation and role-playing so that they increase their confidence, diminish their “test-stress” and focus on key areas where they need to improve.

Feedback and Evaluation

Participants are evaluated on the following criteria: vocabulary, grammar, syntax, organization of their speech, definition of the subject, and ability to develop ideas.

Their progress is monitored through daily group Feedback Sessions led by the language instructors. They meet weekly with their instructor for individual Evaluation Sessions to ensure that both the participant and the instructor team are on track and to address any weak areas immediately.

Each month they undergo a formal Assessment from which they receive a written report that includes where they are in their program, their strong and weak points both in their second language abilities and on their learning strategies and activities.
